The Challenge
In this case we were asked, a solution capable of addressing the sanitary warm water needs (AQS), air conditioning and heating environment of the pool for a house in the area of Judeu Vale (Loulé). Furthermore, the property has a hole, to which water was necessary to ensure a treatment that become compatible with human consumption, according to existing legislation. Finally, it was also request the treatment of the pool water.
The Solution
The solution implemented by De Viris included the installation of a field of solar thermal collectors of high performance type CPC, to feed deposits of two batteries (one for the AQS, the other for support for air conditioning) and a heat exchanger plates (for heating the pool), this one working only during the periods when the heating is off. As most pressure in the air conditioning concerns the cooling, was decided by a heat pump for support. This heat pump is reversible, allowing not only meet the needs of cooling as well as heating. Finally, it was installed a fireplace equipped with heat-air warm recover integrated into the water cooling system. To ensure the distribution of heating and cooling fan-cools were installed in all divisions of the house, installed above the false ceiling, and with ranges of aspiration and inflation, while the water treatment of the hole is secured by a battery of filters, a descalcificator and a system of measurement of chlorine for disinfection. The pool water is treated with flocculant, filtered, balanced in terms of pH and disinfected by a system of emission of ultraviolet light.
The Advantage
The use of integrated solar system, where all collectors feed the same equipment, allows the balance seasonal consumption, thereby optimising the use of energy captured and increasing the overall profitability of the system. The choice of a heat pump with a high COP (Coefficient of Performance, which represents the ratio between the thermal energy produced electricity and spent) can minimize the costs of electricity without harming the minimally comfort. The integration of a fireplace with heat recovery in the water cooling system also allows much of the heat normally lost by the chimney to be recovered and, combined with the thermal solar system, allows the supply almost all the heating needs of the house without recourse to traditional energy . In turn, the assembly of fan-cools above the false ceiling allows its architectural integration complete, since the unit itself is completely hidden. With regard to water treatment systems, they ensure the optimum use of this increasingly scarce resource. As the pool, the recommended treatment substantially reduces the use of toxic chemicals such as chlorine. Moreover, the reduced need for heating that occur in the Algarve allow channel during a good part of the year much of the energy of solar collectors to the pool, substantially extending its period of use.
